A Sense of Doubt blog post #1580 - NCAA underfire for "A Day in the Life" commercial

I think I saw this ad, but didn't see the Twitter firestorm.

Just learned of this and needed a share today, so here it is.

March Madness is a conflicting time for many sports fans.
It’s arguably the most exciting three weeks on the entire sports schedule, but it is also among sports’ most exploitive periods. The NCAA will be filling arenas and football stadiums with games being broadcasted thanks to multi-billion-dollar TV rights deals … all being played by unpaid athletes.
Over the course of those three weeks, the NCAA will push the narrative of how it helps athletes go pro in “something other than sports” and how it always has the best interest of the student-athlete in mind (tell that to Silvio De Sousa).
So, when the NCAA shared its latest ad campaign about a day in the life of a student athlete, former college athletes were quick to call out the commercial’s displaced sense of reality.
The replies from the ex-NCAA athletes were ruthless.

Student and athlete — a day in the life.
Uh what....they made that look like the easiest thing ever lmaooooo. This is misleading...

Where the early morning workout? I dont see any ice wrapped on that arm hes raising. Did he not have any homework or studying to do before bed? What kind of major he got? Underwater basket weaving? And this bum doesnt watch film but got time to dance. NCAA is lying to these kids https://twitter.com/NCAA/status/1107386124081811457

- New note - On 1807.06, I ceased daily transmission of my Hey Mom feature after three years of daily conversations. I plan to continue Hey Mom posts at least twice per week but will continue to post the days since ("Days Ago") count on my blog each day. The blog entry numbering in the title has changed to reflect total Sense of Doubt posts since I began the blog on 0705.04, which include Hey Mom posts, Daily Bowie posts, and Sense of Doubt posts. Hey Mom posts will still be numbered sequentially. New Hey Mom posts will use the same format as all the other Hey Mom posts; all other posts will feature this format seen here.
