A Sense of Doubt blog post #3517 - NO, They are NOT eating the Pets! The new racist screed is dangerous, sick, and wrong

A Sense of Doubt blog post #3517 - NO, They are NOT eating the Pets! The new racist screed is dangerous, sick, and wrong

Trump and Vance's claims that Haitian Immigrants in Springfield, Ohio are eating cats and dogs (pets) and ducks and geese (park wildlife) is not just a terrible lie, but it's a racist attack that has put an entire community of people at risk and turned a sleepy Ohio town into a hot spot when it has no resources to cope with being the center of national attention.

Since the hateful and dangerous lies spread by Trump and Vance, Haitian children have needed to be escorted to and from school due to threats of violence against them.

CHILDREN.

This racist lie is sick and disgusting.

I fail to understand why crap like this that is so vile and abhorrent does not disqualify them for candidacy let alone that people will still vote for them despite their hateful rhetoric.

Just say no to these evil and vicious MAGAlomaniacs in November.

No one is eating people's pets.

COUNTDOWN!!!

Fact Check: No evidence of Haitian immigrants stealing and eating pets in Ohio

BODYCAM VIDEO

Some social media posts present bodycam footage of a woman’s arrest in Canton, Ohio, for killing and eating a cat to support the online narratives but Canton police spokesperson Dennis Garren said in an email: “The suspect in this case is not a Haitian immigrant,” “She is a life long Canton resident.”
The graphic video, viewable on YouTube, shows the Aug. 16 arrest of Allexis Telia Ferrell, who allegedly killed and ate a cat in Canton. Stark County Commons Pleas Court records for Ferrell show she was charged, opens new tab with cruelty to companion animals.

SPRINGFIELD CLAIMS

Springfield Mayor Rob Rue on Monday said claims of geese or ducks from parks being killed and eaten are unsubstantiated, according to a Springfield News-Sun report.

HAITIANS IN THE U.S.

Some social media posts also contain a clip of U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris appearing on The View in 2021, in which she said Haitians in the U.S. “need support, they need protection.”
In May 2021, the U.S. expanded Haitian eligibility for a humanitarian program granting deportation relief and work permits to an estimated 150,000 Haitians already living in the U.S. who cannot safely return to their home, Reuters reported.
Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, are in the country legally and eligible to apply for Temporary Protected Status, according to an Immigration FAQ, opens new tab page on the city’s website, which says the total immigration population in Clark County is an estimated 12,000 to 15,000.
