A Sense of Doubt blog post #3918 - A Comic Book I Love: Krypto - The Last Dog of Krypton
This is a short post.
I just want to make a few comments on the recent SUPERB five issue series about Krypto.
Bold to have a comic in which the main character doesn't speak.
But Krypto is so expressive, especially via Mike Norton's amazing art, that doesn't matter.
The series tells Krypto's story from leaving Krypton to his adventures on earth leading up to finding Superboy in the final issue.
There's even an issue in which Krypto is imprisoned by Lex Luthor, trying to keep him as a pet, revealing the differences between Clark as a HUMAN (the most human among us) and Lex (maybe the least).
With Kyrpto featured so prominently in the 2025 Superman movie, this comic was designed to capitalize. Worked on me. I didn't even wait for the collected. I bought the single issues.
Loyal readers know I have three dogs, three SUPER dogs.
Just sayin'. I am a sucker for dog stories.
In this series, Krypto confronts life and death. He makes a doggie friend only to have the dog get killed as they both attack a killer robot. At first, Krypto doesn't understand. No narration. The art carried the story. When the doggie friend does not rouse with Krypto's nudging, he gets very angry at the robot.
He also finds a lost little girl, and she almost dies, but his body heat protects her all night and then he flies for the first time as he gets her to a hospital.

The series was just fabulous.
The pictures I share here pretty much show you what you need to know and why you should buy and read this series.
BTW, the last picture is not from the Krypto series, but it is a good one.
Happy Comic Book Sunday!!

- New note - On 1807.06, I ceased daily transmission of my Hey Mom feature after three years of daily conversations. I post Hey Mom blog entries on special occasions. I post the days since ("Days Ago") count on my blog each day, and now I have a second count for Days since my Dad died on August 28, 2024. I am now in the same time zone as Google! So, when I post at 10:10 a.m. PDT to coincide with the time of Mom's death, I am now actually posting late, so it's really 1:10 p.m. EDT. But I will continue to use the time stamp of 10:10 a.m. to remember the time of her death and sometimes 13:40 EDT for the time of Dad's death. The blog entry numbering in the title has changed to reflect total Sense of Doubt posts since I began the blog on 0705.04, which include Hey Mom posts, Daily Bowie posts, and Sense of Doubt posts. Hey Mom posts will still be numbered sequentially. New Hey Mom posts will use the same format as all the other Hey Mom posts; all other posts will feature this format seen here.
