A Sense of Doubt blog post #3924 - WKRP in Cincinnati Radio Shows

A Sense of Doubt blog post #3924 - WKRP in Cincinnati Radio Shows

This post was scheduled for a Music Monday, but I needed an emergency bump up to cover for a post that is not even close to ready that was scheduled for today and had to be postponed (a post on new wave science fiction).

I am exhausted from staying up really late going to a concert that will post about on Monday.

So here's a quick treat.

It's where my Big Guy nickname for my Dad came from.

I had a big crush on Bailey Quarters played by Jan Smithers.

But Les Nessman and Herb Tarleck were far and away my favorite characters.

Thanks for tuning in.

I’ve got an auditory treat for all of you to kick off this week. A couple years back, an internet radio station decided to see if it might be possible to program an entire three-hour block by threading together all of the air breaks made by Howard Hessman’s character Dr. Johnny Fever during the original run of WKRP IN CINCINATTI. So what you get is an entire morning shift curated by Fever and featuring the specific tracks that he played throughout the show, punctuated by bits of business from assorted episodes. It’s pretty great, and it can be found at this link. The whole thing went so well that they repeated the process for Tim Reid’s character Venus Flytrap a few months later. That broadcast can be found here.

- New note - On 1807.06, I ceased daily transmission of my Hey Mom feature after three years of daily conversations. I post Hey Mom blog entries on special occasions. I post the days since ("Days Ago") count on my blog each day, and now I have a second count for Days since my Dad died on August 28, 2024. I am now in the same time zone as Google! So, when I post at 10:10 a.m. PDT to coincide with the time of Mom's death, I am now actually posting late, so it's really 1:10 p.m. EDT. But I will continue to use the time stamp of 10:10 a.m. to remember the time of her death and sometimes 13:40 EDT for the time of Dad's death. The blog entry numbering in the title has changed to reflect total Sense of Doubt posts since I began the blog on 0705.04, which include Hey Mom posts, Daily Bowie posts, and Sense of Doubt posts. Hey Mom posts will still be numbered sequentially. New Hey Mom posts will use the same format as all the other Hey Mom posts; all other posts will feature this format seen here.
