A Sense of Doubt blog post #3733 - ANTISEMITIC HOAX - the Protocols of the Elders of Zion
I just finished reading The Adventure of the Peculiar Protocols: Adapted from the Journals of John H. Watson, M.D. by Nicholas Meyer.
The novel concerns the original drafting and publication of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion as a hoax perpetrated against the Jewish people to further Antisemitic sentiment, which fueled the persecution of Jews in Russia at the dawn of the 20th Century (the Pogroms) and ultimately the horrors of the Holocaust committed by the Nazi Party of Germany.
Before I launch into my entry that will be critical of the policies of the Netanyahu-led Israeli government, especially in regards to the Palestinian residents of Gaza, I want to make my views clear.
Antisemitism is real and has been the excuse for oppression, for horrors visited upon the Jewish people going back thousands of years. My criticisms of the Netanyahu-led Israeli government is not itself meant to be Antisemitic. I strongly oppose all bigotry, which would, of course, include Antisemitism.
I have always favored Judaism and Jewish people. In fact, I considered converting for a time and attended a Passover. Not all Jews agree with the policies of modern Israel. My rebukes are only for the Netanyahu-led Israeli government and those who side with it wholly and support its human rights violations.
Recently, Zionism hit my radar in researching the Israeli assault on the Gaza territory and the Palestinian people following the brutal and unconscionable attacks of Hamas on October 7th, 2023. Though what Hamas did to civilians is awful and unforgiveable, the hatred that they harbor for the Israeli government for its Apartheid-like oppression of the Palestinian people of Gaza is understandable. It does not justify their actions, but it does give them context.
The more I research Zionism, the more disgusted and appalled I am at the purpose and goals of the ideology in regards to Gaza in particular and the importance of the land for the "Third Temple," and the clear motivation of the Israeli government to commit genocide against the Palestinian people and take Gaza possibly to transform it into a resort destination, like the French Riviera (unless that's just a Trumpian pipe dream).
That said, the Protocols of the Elders of Zion that have spread like a virus since the early 1900s are a hoax. Nicholas Meyer's novel presents the issue of the Protocols and how they have been used to vilify Jews very wonderfully though an investigation to uncover the hoax led by Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson.

Zionism itself is much more complicated than the conspiracy detailed in the Protocols of the Elders of Zion would lead anyone to believe. There are many sects of Zionism today, and many (though not all) do NOT support the ethnic cleansing, the genocide, the Apartheid-like oppression of the Palestinian people.
However, despite being proven false and a hoax in the British newspaper The Times in 1921 and Frankfurter Zeitung in 1924. the Protocols of the Elders of Zion and its detailed account of a Jewish plan for world domination by a secret cabal (The Elders of Zion) was assigned reading to school children in Germany starting in 1933 (the year Hitler takes power). And has been promulgated multiple times since by many groups of people to perpetuate the conspiracy's legitimacy no matter how often it is proven false.
The protocols are a forgery, a direct plagiarism of a French political satire written in 1864.
The protocols are the original conspiracy theory and gave birth to the secret society theories of the Illumanti, the Freemasons, and others.
A documentary film was made in 2005 about the conspiracy that Jews were warned away from the World Trade Center on 9/11/01, an idea that also re-ignited beliefs in the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.

Similarly, the Israeli government's policy of oppression and past history of ethnic cleansing, which seems to be the current policy in retaliation in Gaza is also unacceptable and clearly a policy of genocide.
Hamas's cruel attacks with abduction, rape, and other horrors are not in any way justified by the Israeli oppression of the Palestinians.
I just learned of Israel's new policy and plan of action to "re-locate" the remaining Palestinian civilian population our of Gaza "to protect them," even though protecting them has not seemed to have been a consideration in the attacks, bombings, since October 2023.
The Protocols of the Elders of Zion may be false and a hoax, but the Israeli conquering and genocide in Gaza is not.

So, when I post at 10:10 a.m. PDT to coincide with the time of Mom's death, I am now actually posting late, so it's really 1:10 p.m. EDT. But I will continue to use the time stamp of 10:10 a.m. to remember the time of her death and sometimes 13:40 EDT for the time of Dad's death. The blog entry numbering in the title has changed to reflect total Sense of Doubt posts since I began the blog on 0705.04, which include Hey Mom posts, Daily Bowie posts, and Sense of Doubt posts. Hey Mom posts will still be numbered sequentially. New Hey Mom posts will use the same format as all the other Hey Mom posts; all other posts will feature this format seen here.
