A Sense of Doubt blog post #3521 - "Let England Shake" by PJ Harvey - Music Monday on Tuesday for 2410.08
I saw PJ Harvey in concert last night in Portland, and it was magical, alluring, inspiring, galvanizing, haunting, and deeply affecting.
Since yesterday was Mom's birthday, I delayed Music Monday for one day and am presenting here "Let England Shake" the title track from the 2011 album of the same name:
Let England Shake
The West’s asleep. Let England shake,
weighted down with silent dead.
I fear our blood won’t rise again.
England’s dancing days are done.
Another day, Bobby, for you to come home
and tell me indifference won.
Smile, smile Bobby, with your lovely mouth.
Pack up your troubles, let’s head out
to the fountain of death
and splash about, swim back & forth
and laugh out loud,
until the day is ending,
and the birds are silent in the branches,
and the insects are courting in the bushes,
and by the shores of lovely lakes
heavy stones are falling.

- New note - On 1807.06, I ceased daily transmission of my Hey Mom feature after three years of daily conversations. I plan to continue Hey Mom posts at least twice per week but will continue to post the days since ("Days Ago") count on my blog each day. The blog entry numbering in the title has changed to reflect total Sense of Doubt posts since I began the blog on 0705.04, which include Hey Mom posts, Daily Bowie posts, and Sense of Doubt posts. Hey Mom posts will still be numbered sequentially. New Hey Mom posts will use the same format as all the other Hey Mom posts; all other posts will feature this format seen here.
