A Sense of Doubt blog post #3581 - Happy Holidays - SoD Reprint of #1752 from 2019

A Sense of Doubt blog post #3581 - Happy Holidays - SoD Reprint of #1752 from 2019

And given that yesterday was a downer, sadness, 100 days since Dad died, today is more uplifting.

I say HAPPY HOLIDAYS because I don't just assume that YOU celebrate Christmas.

But if you say MERRY CHRISTMAS to me, I will say it back.

Happy Holidays.

Thanks for tuning in.

LOW POWER MODE: I sometimes put the blog in what I call LOW POWER MODE. If you see this note, the blog is operating like a sleeping computer, maintaining static memory, but making no new computations. If I am in low power mode, it's because I do not have time to do much that's inventive, original, or even substantive on the blog. This means I am posting straight shares, limited content posts, reprints, often something qualifying for the THAT ONE THING category and other easy to make posts to keep me daily. That's the deal. Thanks for reading.

A Sense of Doubt blog post #1752 - Happy Holidays Collection - Superheroes (mostly)

I downloaded a bunch of memes and images today for sharing with students in final exams and other places.

Here you go...

Because GRADING ROBOT has little time to DISCUSS the images.

- Days ago: MOM = 3445 days ago & DAD = 101 days ago

- New note - On 1807.06, I ceased daily transmission of my Hey Mom feature after three years of daily conversations. I post Hey Mom blog entries on special occasions. I post the days since ("Days Ago") count on my blog each day, and now I have a second count for Days since my Dad died on August 28, 2024. I am now in the same time zone as Google! So, when I post at 10:10 a.m. PDT to coincide with the time of Mom's death, I am now actually posting late, so it's really 1:10 p.m. EDT. But I will continue to use the time stamp of 10:10 a.m. to remember the time of her death and sometimes 13:40 EDT for the time of Dad's death. The blog entry numbering in the title has changed to reflect total Sense of Doubt posts since I began the blog on 0705.04, which include Hey Mom posts, Daily Bowie posts, and Sense of Doubt posts. Hey Mom posts will still be numbered sequentially. New Hey Mom posts will use the same format as all the other Hey Mom posts; all other posts will feature this format seen here.

A Sense of Doubt blog post #3149 - SoD Reprint of #1318 - Whisper Words of Wisdom - a Musical Monday Mix for 1810.01

A Sense of Doubt blog post #3149 - SoD Reprint of #1318 - Whisper Words of Wisdom - a Musical Monday Mix for 1810.01

The thing about music mixes is that they always have to be attended to.

Videos are pulled off You Tube all the time. So, I might set up a mix, and it could have missing videos the very next day.

I am engaging a practice of choosing videos from the artist's official channel more often than from just some random You Tuber.

Also, often, I am looking back at mixes because of class, which is my main place to play music, even though, now, I am no longer sharing blog links in my class materials. I wonder if that decision will affect my traffic at all?

I decided to use this mix as one of the two for this week's classes, which meant it needed some editing.

So, I edited this post from almost exactly five years ago (off by one day).

It was time for a reprint.

Enjoy and thanks for tuning in.

A Sense of Doubt blog post #1318 - Whisper Words of Wisdom - a Musical Monday Mix for

This is a somewhat lazy mix. I am not doing my usual track lists and rhetoric of in depth reasoning and process analysis.

Pretty much just music today.

"Let It Be" is my favourite Beatles song.

Say what you want, I think it's great, and so I basically created a whole mix around it.

Some may find some of the selections odd, but they make sense to me, especially "Velouria" by the Pixies, which I feel touches some of the themes and it's been a song I have been listening to because my ninth wedding anniversary is Wednesday, and it's one of our songs, Liesel's and mine.

And I feel like we could all use a little wisdom right now, eh?

I know I could.

NOTE: 2309.29: This blog post was edited for better class play with the mix and to replace one unavailable tune. The post never had a track list because in 2018, I was just doing individual videos. I moved the live "Let it Be Me" to the bottom because the introduction of the Indigo Girls is jarring when played in class. I added the album track of "Let it Be Me" in the second position where the live track had been. The mix no longer ends on "Imagine," but that's okay. There was another missing track from the original, which I suspect was "Give Peace a Chance." I decided to add that one back, too. The track I chose for "Give Peace a Chance" is a 2020 mix, which is two years after this post was originally published, but such is the fun of being able to edit.
