I am always discovering new music. I love it.

Before the Internet, the discovery process was much more difficult. Even before MTV, it was the radio, word of mouth, record stores, magazines, and zines.

As I wrote about in this mix below, the first time I visited Wax Trax in Chicago a whole new world opened up for me. Over 50% of the dividers in the bins named bands I had never heard of.

A Sense of Doubt blog post #1263 - INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT - IN MEMORY OF WAX TRAX - a Musical Monday for 1808.06

Now, it's easy, and there's too much. We are drowning in recommendations and influencers fighting for our clicks and 10 seconds of our eyeballs.

I still rely on word of mouth. I get a lot of the ambient music and a few others things from WARREN ELLIS. He's the one who turned me on to Bandcamp, and a lot of what I have saved in that system, a lot of the musicians I follow, came from Ellis.

I spotted Arushi Jain in a newsletter via Bandcamp from the Leaving Records label (included below).

I am always on the lookout for women in music, especially outside of the U.S.

- New note - On 1807.06, I ceased daily transmission of my Hey Mom feature after three years of daily conversations. I plan to continue Hey Mom posts at least twice per week but will continue to post the days since ("Days Ago") count on my blog each day. The blog entry numbering in the title has changed to reflect total Sense of Doubt posts since I began the blog on 0705.04, which include Hey Mom posts, Daily Bowie posts, and Sense of Doubt posts. Hey Mom posts will still be numbered sequentially. New Hey Mom posts will use the same format as all the other Hey Mom posts; all other posts will feature this format seen here.

A Sense of Doubt blog post #3358 - Yummy Art to Scroll Through - Happy Comic Book Sunday for 2404.28


Sometimes you just need to scroll through a lot of pretty or intriguing art.

Sometimes I need a lazy post, much like what John Shannahan of the Hypnagogue podcast  would call a "lazy podcast," an uninterrupted flow.

Also, a lazy post frees me up to work harder on more complex, time-consuming, and possibly original (or more original) posts.

I copy a lot of comic book and other imagery off the Internet through the week as I explore.

It builds up in my downloads folder and needs to be cleared out.

This is the clearing out!
