A Sense of Doubt blog post #2562 - We're Moving to KALAMA!

So, we bought a house, and we're moving!

Literally, we're just moving one town up the highway, five minutes from our current home.

But this home is bigger, nicer in many ways, and in KALAMA, which is the town in this area that we like best.

There are multiple "SIGNS" proving that this is the right move for us.

KALAMA is all the letters of KALAMAZOO except the ZOO part.

Everyone thinks that Kalama the town and Kalama River are named for the Hawaiian John Kalama, but this is not true. But the Hawaiian connection is there for my wife.

Part of the movie Twilight was filmed in Kalama.

Before we even considered living in Kalama, I started writing a novel (started in 2018) set in Kalama and have since had a tour of the old high school where much of it will take place.

Kalama is an anagram of Kamala, and y'all know how much I love Kamala Harris.

Kalama is situated between the Kalama River and the BIG Columbia river (seen in the photos below). Though we can only catch glimpses of the Columbia river from the second floor windows, it's still cool.

My wife is naming the house River Maiden for the Tolkien water spirits, and here's a WIKI article on them, and one is named Goldberry.

So... now we have to hire some movers. The house is ours on Saturday the 26th, unless the sellers need more time to move.

We need a lot of help moving and a target date.

We want to put our current house on the market after we move out.

- New note - On 1807.06, I ceased daily transmission of my Hey Mom feature after three years of daily conversations. I plan to continue Hey Mom posts at least twice per week but will continue to post the days since ("Days Ago") count on my blog each day. The blog entry numbering in the title has changed to reflect total Sense of Doubt posts since I began the blog on 0705.04, which include Hey Mom posts, Daily Bowie posts, and Sense of Doubt posts. Hey Mom posts will still be numbered sequentially. New Hey Mom posts will use the same format as all the other Hey Mom posts; all other posts will feature this format seen here.
