A Sense of Doubt blog post #2692 - Mu Ra Ta With Dad then Visiting Family

The plan was to go have sushi in Portland and then go to the Gorge and then visit in-laws, Rob and Elizabeth.

We had missed having sushi two days before, so we needed to get some, and I had chosen a really good sushi place, one of the best in Portland.

But with a late start to go into the city, traffic delays, and how we needed a reservation, we were stymied to go to the Gorge.

Originally, I had planned that we would go to the gorge first and then to Portland for lunch. But I could not get going early enough and so it made more sense to go straight to Portland.

I parked us near Floating World Comics where I had to go, planning to take the TriMax train to the sushi place and then back. I had trouble navigating the train system, and we ended up taking a bus back.

All that took some time, so we chose not to go to the gorge and headed to Rob and Elizabeth's.

I took us by the Wishing Tree, and then down Fremont where we saw the Holy Goat, then out Sandy Boulevard to the 205 and out to Brush Prairie to see Rob and Elizabeth.

As it turned out, we should have gone to the gorge. We never were able to fully see it because we tried to go on the Fourth of July and ran into parades and check point for park passes, which I do not own for Oregon (though I should).

Still, it was a good day.

Blog Vacation Two 2022 - Vacation II Post 128

I took a "Blog Vacation" in 2021 from August 31st to October 14th. I did not stop posting daily; I just put the blog in a low power rotation and mostly kept it off social media. Like that vacation, for this second blog vacation now in 2022, I am alternating between reprints, shares with little to no commentary, and THAT ONE THING, which is an image from the folder with a few thoughts scribbled along with it. I am alternating these three modes as long as the vacation lasts (not sure how long), pre-publishing the posts, and not always pushing them to social media.

We were told by a customer of 25 years that it was the best smoked salmon of all time.

It was very good.

The saba (mackarel) was even better.

- New note - On 1807.06, I ceased daily transmission of my Hey Mom feature after three years of daily conversations. I plan to continue Hey Mom posts at least twice per week but will continue to post the days since ("Days Ago") count on my blog each day. The blog entry numbering in the title has changed to reflect total Sense of Doubt posts since I began the blog on 0705.04, which include Hey Mom posts, Daily Bowie posts, and Sense of Doubt posts. Hey Mom posts will still be numbered sequentially. New Hey Mom posts will use the same format as all the other Hey Mom posts; all other posts will feature this format seen here.
