Hey, Mom! Talking to My Mother #459 - The Coffee Maker Died

Hey Mom,

It's significant that the new xkcd cartoon today is about coffee.

When  we woke up this morning, the coffee machine had turned on as per its programming, the tank was full of water, the grounds were in the filtration system, and yet, no coffee. The machine's heating element had died or some other minor techno-element of the machine (which is quite simple) had ceased to function. There's no trouble shooting answer in the instruction booklet for this case, either. It's broken. And Krups, my preferred brand, is usually very reliable.

Luckily, we have a back up coffee maker. Not programmable. A simple Mr. Coffee. So, we were still able to obtain coffee without leaving the house.

Now we're trying to decide on a new coffee maker. It's an ongoing discussion without an answer as of yet.

Meanwhile, xkcd prophetically had a post about coffee.

I like the "we're fake adults" comment.

NOTE on time: When I post late, I had been posting at 7:10 a.m. because Google is on Pacific Time, and so this is really 10:10 EDT. However, it still shows up on the blog in Pacific time. So, I am going to start posting at 10:10 a.m. Pacific time, intending this to be 10:10 Eastern time. I know this only matters to me, and to you, Mom. But I am not going back and changing all the 7:10 a.m. times. But I will run this note for a while. Mom, you know that I am posting at 10:10 a.m. often because this is the time of your death.
