A Sense of Doubt blog post #1698 - They burned her book after inviting her to campus
Came to my attention via Gail Griffin, a former prof of mine.
This is our world now, but it was always our world. The hate is just back out in the open because it's modeled through immaturity and lack of dignity daily from the Oval Office on down the line in the new "American" government, making a mockery of the principled outlined in things like the DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE.
I feel the stiffening of skins, spines, and minds when I start to discuss things like white privilege, racism, and police murders of African-American men.
Fear breeds hate which breeds unchecked bigotry.
We must not be defeated.
so after our FYE book’s author came to my school to talk about it... these people decide to burn her book because “it’s bad and that race is bad to talk about”. white people need to realize that they are the problem and that their privilege is toxic. author is a woman of color. pic.twitter.com/HiX4lGT7Ci

- New note - On 1807.06, I ceased daily transmission of my Hey Mom feature after three years of daily conversations. I plan to continue Hey Mom posts at least twice per week but will continue to post the days since ("Days Ago") count on my blog each day. The blog entry numbering in the title has changed to reflect total Sense of Doubt posts since I began the blog on 0705.04, which include Hey Mom posts, Daily Bowie posts, and Sense of Doubt posts. Hey Mom posts will still be numbered sequentially. New Hey Mom posts will use the same format as all the other Hey Mom posts; all other posts will feature this format seen here.
