A Sense of Doubt blog post #3856 - "Summer Breeze" - Seals & Crofts - Music Monday for 2509.08

A Sense of Doubt blog post #3856 - "Summer Breeze" - Seals & Crofts - Music Monday for 2509.08

I am not ready to let summer go. And it's actually still summer.

I love summer. I wish it could be June and July all year long.

The days are getting shorter and cooler and that makes me sad.

Also, Baseball season is winding down.

I always feel like I did not take advantage enough of the summer and its good weather.

I didn't sign up for the Ultimate league this year and have not even gone out to play pick up.

I need to log more porch time today as it gets into the upper 70s before temps drop for two days of rain.

I wonder if 80 or especially 90 degree days are done for the year (hope not though).

So just this song.

Makes me happy.

Hope it makes you happy, too.

I always thought that other line in the chorus was "going through the chasm in my mind" instead of "Blowin' through the jasmine in my mind."

Enjoy!

Thanks for tuning in.

"Summer Breeze" - Seals & Crofts

Seals & Crofts' original version reached number six on the U.S. pop singles chart. Bruce Eder of Allmusic referred to it as “one of those relentlessly appealing 1970s harmony-rock anthems,” “appropriately ubiquitous on the radio and in the memory”. One of the distinctive backing instruments on Summer Breeze is a child’s toy piano. The single reached #6 pop, #4 easy listening on the U.S. Billboard charts in autumn 1972.

The production of the song was completely handled by guitarist Louie Shelton

"Summer breeze" most commonly refers to a light, cool, and pleasant wind during the summer months, but it can also describe a feeling of ease, lightness, or carefree happiness associated with the season. The phrase is also well-known as the title of the 1972 soft rock hit song by Seals and Crofts, which evoked themes of tranquility and simple pleasures.

"Summer Breeze: - Seals and Crofts

[Verse 1]
See the curtains hangin' in the window
In the evening on a Friday night
A little light a-shinin' through the window
Lets me know everything's all right

[Chorus]
Summer breeze makes me feel fine
Blowin' through the jasmine in my mind
Summer breeze makes me feel fine
Blowin' through the jasmine in my mind

[Verse 2]
See the paper layin' on the sidewalk
A little music from the house next door
So I walk on up to the doorstep
Through the screen and across the floor

[Chorus]
Summer breeze makes me feel fine
Blowin' through the jasmine in my mind
Summer breeze makes me feel fine
Blowin' through the jasmine in my mind

[Bridge]
Sweet days of summer, the jasmine's in bloom
July is dressed up and playing her tune
And I come home from a hard day's work
And you're waiting there, not a care in the world

Seals and Crofts were known for their strong and open advocacy of the Baha'i Faith. Both Jim Seals and Dash Crofts became followers of the Baha'i faith in 1969 and incorporated its principles and teachings into their music and public personas, according to Bahaipedia. They often incorporated Baha'i themes and messages into their songs, though they also emphasized that they didn't want to be seen as constantly pushing a religious agenda.

- Days ago: MOM = 3721 days ago & DAD = 375 days ago

- New note - On 1807.06, I ceased daily transmission of my Hey Mom feature after three years of daily conversations. I post Hey Mom blog entries on special occasions. I post the days since ("Days Ago") count on my blog each day, and now I have a second count for Days since my Dad died on August 28, 2024. I am now in the same time zone as Google! So, when I post at 10:10 a.m. PDT to coincide with the time of Mom's death, I am now actually posting late, so it's really 1:10 p.m. EDT. But I will continue to use the time stamp of 10:10 a.m. to remember the time of her death and sometimes 13:40 EDT for the time of Dad's death. The blog entry numbering in the title has changed to reflect total Sense of Doubt posts since I began the blog on 0705.04, which include Hey Mom posts, Daily Bowie posts, and Sense of Doubt posts. Hey Mom posts will still be numbered sequentially. New Hey Mom posts will use the same format as all the other Hey Mom posts; all other posts will feature this format seen here.
