A Sense of Doubt blog post #3983 - "Under Pressure" - SoD Reprint of Daily Bowie #71 from 2016
I was going to reprint "A Better Future," but I did that last week.
When thinking of what to reprint instead, this song seemed appropriate for what's going on in the world right now.
Plus, like many of these Daily Bowie posts, I had to repair this one, though not all the edits are back in the original. I fixed the broken video problem, but the text edits are all just here.
Thanks for tuning in.

The Daily Bowie #71 - "Under Pressure"
I joked recently that I should rename this feature "The Weekly Bowie" because that is what it has become. But let's see if I can make it the "every other day Bowie" or the "Couple of Times a Week Bowie." If I can get close enough to daily production I managed before, then maybe I won't feel so bad about the name of the feature.
I am always busy. I am not really busier than I have been. In fact, I managed daily posts on Bowie during a very busy time.
Though I have been busy enough that this song seems apt.
Great stuff here. I am not going to re-post the a capella version, but you can find it at the link.

I usually do not re-post ALL of Chris O'Leary's post from PUSHING AHEAD OF THE DAME, just some of it. But this one is SO GOOD that I want to share. All credit to Chris and his wonderful blog, found at the previous link and this post here: "UNDER PRESSURE" - PUSHING AHEAD OF THE DAME. How could I not love Chris' post for this song? It features a comic book!! (see below)
I am not sure why I did not LOVE this song when I first heard it, but I didn't. I have come to love it, but I did not love it immediately and I am not sure why. Maybe I was annoyed about Queen? I love Queen, so I was not annoyed with them. Maybe I was annoyed with hearing "Another One Bites the Dust" at full volume at 3 a.m. in my dorm, played by football players who had a fun drinking game called "rock." They would blare "Another One Bites the Dust" and chant (not sing), then they would attempt to lift a very large "boulder" from the outdoor landscaping that they had brought inside. Each player had to lift it and "set" it back down to prove he was not totally wasted. Usually the boulder was dropped and the force of it shook the building. None of this is fair to Queen, who are one of the greatest rock bands of all time. And I am over the torments of those meat heads... mostly.
So, first the video, then the "UNDER PRESSURE" - PUSHING AHEAD OF THE DAME page.
This is a clever video as it tries to create the illusion that Bowie and Queen are performing together even though this did not happen.

NOTE ON WHY THE DAILY BOWIE IS NO LONGER DAILY: For 53 days, I completed daily Bowie posts. My schedule is too demanding to make a post every day, so this will now be a feature that is called The Daily Bowie, but it will not be daily. I will post as I can. I will post often. But if I miss a day, I will skip it. Otherwise, I get in the position of making five Bowie posts all in one day, and that's a lot of Bowie for people to swallow all at once... (yeah, leaving that badly phrased, innuendo packed statement. I bet Bowie would have laughed at it).

- New note - On 1807.06, I ceased daily transmission of my Hey Mom feature after three years of daily conversations. I post Hey Mom blog entries on special occasions. I post the days since ("Days Ago") count on my blog each day, and now I have a second count for Days since my Dad died on August 28, 2024. I am now in the same time zone as Google! So, when I post at 10:10 a.m. PDT to coincide with the time of Mom's death, I am now actually posting late, so it's really 1:10 p.m. EDT. But I will continue to use the time stamp of 10:10 a.m. to remember the time of her death and sometimes 13:40 EDT for the time of Dad's death. The blog entry numbering in the title has changed to reflect total Sense of Doubt posts since I began the blog on 0705.04, which include Hey Mom posts, Daily Bowie posts, and Sense of Doubt posts. Hey Mom posts will still be numbered sequentially. New Hey Mom posts will use the same format as all the other Hey Mom posts; all other posts will feature this format seen here.
