Due: Saturday January 15th - end of the day

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mastermind_(board_game)

or Google

WHAT TO DO

Play the Mastermind game here:

https://www.archimedes-lab.org/mastermind.html

Make sure to read the rules first either at the Archimedes site linked above or Wikipedia or both.

Try to play and figure out how to win often and quickly WITHOUT watching You Tube videos or reading other help options or even the algorithm provided on the Wikipedia page.

Analyze how you figured out on your own to win often and quickly. After which, you may examine the algorithm provided on the Wikipedia page with which Donald Knuth claimed to be able to guess correctly in five moves or fewer.

That’s impressive because the code set contains 1296 combinations.

After some playing and analysis and some exploration of source materials, write a memo to your instructor explaining your analysis of how you figured out to win and then what you learned from resources.

Take screen shots of the game at various stages to show what you tried, what response you received and what you tried based on that response.

The instructor (that’s me), I will share some guidance on this assignment in my week two video, but I do not want to show too much about playing the game because I want you to explore and analyze and learn and then report on what you learned through analysis.

If completed without too much or any assistance from available resources, this assignment is meant to hone your critical thinking skills and test your ability to articulate a step-by-step procedure that you devised using analytical, critical thinking.

Cool?

Come on... this is supposed to be FUN.

I am all about either putting the FUN in FUNKY or FUN in the key of FUNK!!

Have a blast!

- New note - On 1807.06, I ceased daily transmission of my Hey Mom feature after three years of daily conversations. I plan to continue Hey Mom posts at least twice per week but will continue to post the days since ("Days Ago") count on my blog each day. The blog entry numbering in the title has changed to reflect total Sense of Doubt posts since I began the blog on 0705.04, which include Hey Mom posts, Daily Bowie posts, and Sense of Doubt posts. Hey Mom posts will still be numbered sequentially. New Hey Mom posts will use the same format as all the other Hey Mom posts; all other posts will feature this format seen here.
