A Sense of Doubt blog post #2135 - GOING FISHING 2020 - ALIGNMENTS - LOW POWER MODE - THAT ONE THINGOkay, so, time for a vacation.
When I say vacation, there's some explanation in order. I post every day, and in this current mode I have posted at least once daily, consecutively, without stopping for 1997 days as I started HEY MOM two days after my Mom passed away. And "at least once daily" because for a while I did two posts a day: a daily HEY MOM and a DAILY BOWIE.
Now, there's nothing to stop from just pausing the blog, ceasing the daily posting trend. Even though I am not longer doing daily HEY MOM posts, I am still very dedicated to posting on a daily schedule. It matters to me. I like the creative outlet, especially when it really is creative, but also I feel like I have made a promise to myself, and I do not want to let myself down. I do not pretend that I have that many regular readers who are actually able to follow me on a daily basis, so I am not under any illusions that I am letting down any actual daily readers (though it's a nice fantasy).
But I need a break. I need to put my efforts into other things like rest and reading as well writing other things, including even some special blog posts. LOW POWER MODE is something I invented a while back to invoke when work gets really busy -- GRADING HELL. But I have also used it to take a vacation as I did two years ago when I literally took a vacation and went home to Michigan, even though I did not call it LOW POWER MODE then as I had not invented that mode yet.
So for at least the next two weeks and maybe three, I am going to keep this blog in LOW POWER MODE, which means lots of shares, some THAT ONE THING, and no WEEKLY HODGE PODGE or weekly comic book Sunday. I may resurrect more draft posts from the archive, though Blogger has made that harder with this new version (which still sucks and is very BUGGY). There will be reprints and straight up shares and very little of me writing new stuff for a while, unless I get a burst of inspiration or change my mind. I am targeting January 9th as the return with a HODGE PODGE either three weeks in the making or just one culled from that week.
So, that's the deal. Sort of a vacation. I will load the posts in advance. I already have most of the rest of this week planned and more or less complete. Tomorrow is the 2000 days post, but I am going to keep it short.
But I do not want to leave you wanting, reader, in case this post attracted your attention. I have been planning to do a post of these alignment grids for a long time.
So here's some alignment grids. I wish I had some better images of some as the text is not always readable. There are THREE versions from Lord of the Rings, four if you count the Hobbit one. It is interesting to see the placement of Sauron. I will label some.

LOW POWER MODE: I sometimes put the blog in what I call LOW POWER MODE. If you see this note, the blog is operating like a sleeping computer, maintaining static memory, but making no new computations. If I am in low power mode, it's because I do not have time to do much that's inventive, original, or even substantive on the blog.
