A Sense of Doubt blog post #1471 - HBO 2019

A Sense of Doubt blog post #1471 - HBO 2019

I just need an easy post, and I only feel a little dirty for promoting HBO so shamelessly. But as a family who pays our $10 monthly for this premiere content, I am sold, and I am more excited about this year than I have been since the year before the release of season two of Carnivale.

TEAR DOWN THE WALL!!!

The wall is coming down.

Deadwood is back with a film that will hopefully bring some closure to the dangling conflict between sneering but righteous sheriff Seth Bullock (Timothy Olyphant) and charismatic but sinister kingpin Al Swearengen (Ian McShane). Plus, this teaser promotes new seasons of 2 Dope Queens, Ballers, Barry, Big Little Lies, Game of Thrones, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Silicon Valley, Veep and more.

But with so much new coming to HBO, let’s breakdown the highlights:

Euphoria, a teen drama series that follows a group of high school students as they grapple with issues of drugs, sex, and violence.

The Righteous Gemstones, a Danny McBride-created comedy series about a famous yet dysfunctional family of televangelists, played by McBride, Adam DeVine, and John Goodman.

Mrs. FletcherThe Leftover’s Tom Perrotta offers a comedy series about a single mom whose son has moved out for college as she looks to begin a new life on her own.
Years and Years, a drama series from Doctor Who’s Russell T. Davies and starring Emma Thompson. Per HBO: “As Britain is rocked by unstable political, economic and technological advances, members of the Lyons family converge on one crucial night in 2019.”

Gentleman Jack, a British-American historical drama series created by Sally Wainwright and starring Suranne Jones as noted landowner and industrialist Anne Lister.

Los Espookys, Fred Armisen and company bring laughs as a group of friends obsessed with horror films and monster makeup, who live in a fantastic dreamworld version of modern-day Mexico City.

Catherine the Great, a mini-series with Helen Mirren as the titular queen. Sold.

The Case Against Adnan Syed, we have thoughts.

His Dark Materials, a star-studded and in-depth adaptation of Philip Pullman’s adored fantasy-trilogy, The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass. Look out for Lin-Manuel Miranda as Lee Scoresby!

Watchmen, Damon Lindelof gives Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ iconic comic new life with a cast that includes Jeremy Irons and ACADEMY AWARD WINNER Regina King.
Whoa. That’s a whole lot of not TV, HBO.

- New note - On 1807.06, I ceased daily transmission of my Hey Mom feature after three years of daily conversations. I plan to continue Hey Mom posts at least twice per week but will continue to post the days since ("Days Ago") count on my blog each day. The blog entry numbering in the title has changed to reflect total Sense of Doubt posts since I began the blog on 0705.04, which include Hey Mom posts, Daily Bowie posts, and Sense of Doubt posts. Hey Mom posts will still be numbered sequentially. New Hey Mom posts will use the same format as all the other Hey Mom posts; all other posts will feature this format seen here.
