Long Lake 1971 |
Hi Mom,
It's been 400 days since you died.
Though this total is barely a month of days more than the one year anniversary (365 days), it feels significant. All these round numbers, these milestone numbers, feel significant.
Yesterday's post was very lengthy, so I am going to keep this short with just a few choice tunes, fewer than usual.
First, in keeping with our sunshine theme of last week, what I learned was Warren Ellis' main phone ring tone.
Dick Dale - "California Sun" - 1994 version
Moby - "First Cool Hive"
TWO VERSIONS
"It's a Very Deep Sea"
- STYLE COUNCIL
Paul Weller Movement - IT'S A VERY DEEP SEA @ Vidia Club Italy 1990
The Style Council Its A Very Deep Sea (Confessions Of A Pop Group Tv Special 1988)
And that's it.
I said I would keep it simple today.
400 days. This is the right soundtrack for that.
The jarring and powerhouse Dick Dale tune followed by two contemplative tunes, with two versions of the last.
"Diving... I'm diving... diving..."

Reflect and connect.
Have someone give you a kiss, and tell you that I love you.
I miss you so very much, Mom.
Talk to you tomorrow, Mom.

NOTE on time: When I post late, I had been posting at 7:10 a.m. because Google is on Pacific Time, and so this is really 10:10 EDT. However, it still shows up on the blog in Pacific time. So, I am going to start posting at 10:10 a.m. Pacific time, intending this to be 10:10 Eastern time. I know this only matters to me, and to you, Mom. But I am not going back and changing all the 7:10 a.m. times. But I will run this note for a while. Mom, you know that I am posting at 10:10 a.m. often because this is the time of your death.
