Though the current project started as a series of posts charting my grief journey after the death of my mother, I am no longer actively grieving. Now, the blog charts a conversation in living, mainly whatever I want it to be. This is an activity that goes well with the theme of this blog (updated 2018). The Sense of Doubt blog is dedicated to my motto: EMBRACE UNCERTAINTY. I promote questioning everything because just when I think I know something is concrete, I find out that it’s not.
Hey, Mom! The Explanation.
Here's the permanent dedicated link to my first Hey, Mom! post and the explanation of the feature it contains.

Hey, Mom! Talking to My Mother #986 - New Over-Encumbered #110
Hey, Mom! Talking to My Mother #986 - New Over-Encumbered #110
Hi Mom,
I spent much of the weekend reading Natalie Metzger's web-comic OVER-ENCUMBERED, which I have plugged on this blog, here, before, but I had not yet devoted myself to reading the entire archive of 110 strips.
It's good stuff. Natalie has the kind of sense of humor that I appreciate. The art and comic situations are fun and engaging enough, but Natalie's comments along with each strip make the reading experience even more enjoyable. I miss the commentary as it seems she is not as chatty as she was in 2014-2016.
I had the pleasure of meeting Natalie, who lives near me, when I went to an event in Portland in January as I detailed here:
HEY MOM # 915
Also, Natalie's links:
THE FUZZY SLUG, Natalie's web site
OVER-ENCUMBERED, the main link
OVER-ENCUMBERED ARCHIVE.
Also, here's two other links of mine.
First, proof that I have had her archive open for a few weeks and have wanted to read through it as noted here in
HEY MOM #976
and a previous post featuring Natalie art:
HEY MOM #283.
There's some more links to instances of mentioning Natalie in post #915.
If you know D&D, you "get" what a funny title "over-encumbered" really is. It's an inside joke. Really.
Anywho, here's the comic.
For actual readers, and you Mom, I am still working on my Tillamook trip report that's now over a week late. It may be tomorrow's post or Tuesday's. Most probably, Tuesday's.
In other news, the cat's name in this strip is Lord Dinglepuff, which is most excellent, don't you think?
Click the link to see the comic in better resolution and size.
I know you love cats, Mom, but could you love this tentacle-headed feline who can summon other fell creatures from other dimensions?
Though I love Owl Bears (another character in the strip is an Owl Bear), I believe that Gary, pictured here, the Ogre, is my favorite character in the strip.
PERMALINK TO THIS COMIC
There are many worse ways to spend a Sunday afternoon than reading OVER-ENCUMBERED, such as what Gary is trying to do in this strip -- clean an apartment of its... vermin.

Reflect and connect.
Have someone give you a kiss, and tell you that I love you, Mom.
I miss you so very much, Mom.
Talk to you tomorrow, Mom.

NEW (written 1708.27) NOTE on time: I am now in the same time zone as Google! So, when I post at 10:10 a.m. PDT to coincide with the time of your death, Mom, I am now actually posting late, so it's really 1:10 p.m. EDT. But I will continue to use the time stamp of 10:10 a.m. to remember the time of your death, Mom. I know this only matters to me, and to you, Mom.
