Coldwater Lake Hike 1807_04 |
Hi Mom,
So my decision is official. Friday will be my last daily Hey Mom post, the last in a continuous string of posts stretching back three years to when I began, two days after your death.
I have decided to continue Hey Mom posts on Throwback Thursdays and reprints of select Hey Mom posts on Sundays. I will make other Hey Mom posts if inspired, so I am not restricting myself to only two a week if I feel the need to talk to you another day. I plan to continue to publish daily blog posts, though the new ones will be Sense of Doubt only and will start up a count of all the blog posts to Sense of Doubt so far including Hey Mom, Daily Bowie, and the Sense of Doubt posts. I will also continue to count the number of Hey Mom posts as well as the days since your death, Mom.
I have to say it's all a bit easier, but it doesn't make it all any less sad.
But the theme of this blog is that I continue to live. Liesel and I took a seven mile hike around Coldwater Lake near Mt. St. Helens today (though I am posting this blog backwards in time). Coldwater Lake was formed in the 1980 eruption of the volcano.
It was a great day.
I feel very close to you in nature.
There are some other pictures here of recent living, including a recent stop in Portland on the way home from Tillamook and my own visit to BAMBUZA just before seeing Sallie Tisdale speak at Powell's on June 19th 2018.

Reflect and connect.
Have someone give you a kiss, and tell you that I love you, Mom.
I miss you so very much, Mom.
Talk to you tomorrow, Mom.

NEW (written 1708.27) NOTE on time: I am now in the same time zone as Google! So, when I post at 10:10 a.m. PDT to coincide with the time of your death, Mom, I am now actually posting late, so it's really 1:10 p.m. EDT. But I will continue to use the time stamp of 10:10 a.m. to remember the time of your death, Mom. I know this only matters to me, and to you, Mom.
