A Sense of Doubt blog post #1398 - Avengers: ENDGAME

A Sense of Doubt blog post #1398 - Avengers: ENDGAME

APRIL 26TH, 2019!!

I updated this post with superhero and SF movie schedules from Sept. 27th on Monday 1812.17 because of  the updated Avengers 4 release date.

See post here:

https://sensedoubt.blogspot.com/2018/09/a-sense-of-doubt-blog-post-1314-comic.html

I am kind of a fan boy at heart. I can't help it.

I LOVE the superhero movies just for the mere fact that I dreamed of this day when they would be brought to life in this way. It doesn't matter whether or not this one is better than that one or this one changed the origin story radically from that one. None of that matters.

It's just that they exist at all.

There's LIVE ACTION AVENGERS MOVIES!!

And some of them are directed by Joss Whedon!

Had you told my thirteen-year-old self that news, first, I would have asked who is Joss Whedon?

Next I would ask what kind of name is Joss and is that a misspelling?

And then, I would say "oh come on, be serious. LIVE ACTION?? Not possible."

Though right now I am anticipating the release of Aquaman Friday (12/21) a bit more than Avengers next year. Just sayin'.

Still what better Christmas present than a trailer for the new Avengers movie and an EARLIER than originally announced release date (oh yeah, and a title).

NEW AVENGERS: ENDGAMETRAILER PROMISES 'FIGHT OF OUR LIVES'

Welp, that was fast. Hot on the heels of the second trailer for Captain Marvel, Disney dropped the first trailer early Friday morning for what we now know is called Avengers: Endgame, the followup this spring's Thanos-kills-half-the-universe heart-stopper Avengers: Infinity War. And, to be honest, it's not quite the trailer everyone was expecting.

For one, it's got a little more heft than most early teasers, which tend to focus on dramatic shots and offer little plot. This one, while it doesn't say exactly how the remaining Avengers plan to fix Thanos' intergalactic genocide, but it does reveal that they have a plan. (::cough::Get Wong to turn back time?::cough::) And, in the words of Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), it will be the "fight of our lives" and it'll work "because I don't know what I'm going to do if it doesn't." Bleak, Steve, bleak.

What else? Well, for one, Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.) is adrift in space and sending messages to Pepper Potts saying he's only got about a day's worth of oxygen left. Thor (Chris Hemsworth) is sad. Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) is back (yay?). And Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Bruce Banner/Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) are on the verge of tears the whole time. Thankfully, Scott Lang/Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), whose post-Thanos fate was revealed in the post-credits scene of this year's Ant-Man and the Wasp shows up in his van right at the end to provide some comic relief, pulling up to Avengers headquarters and asking, “Can you buzz me in?”
Not shown, perhaps unsurprisingly, is Captain Marvel (Brie Larson). She was the one Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) paged—yes, paged!—at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, and will presumably be the hero who helps save the day in Endgame, but she's nowhere to be found here. Makes sense, considering her origin story movie isn't out yet, but look for her in future trailers.
The new teaser also reveals the movie's April release date. The clip itself just says “April,” but Marvel released a poster on Twitter shortly after the trailer dropped announcing that the date will be April 26, proving it's sticking with the slightly earlier release window it used for Infinity War. Now, if only we could snap our fingers and fast-forward to spring.

- New note - On 1807.06, I ceased daily transmission of my Hey Mom feature after three years of daily conversations. I plan to continue Hey Mom posts at least twice per week but will continue to post the days since ("Days Ago") count on my blog each day. The blog entry numbering in the title has changed to reflect total Sense of Doubt posts since I began the blog on 0705.04, which include Hey Mom posts, Daily Bowie posts, and Sense of Doubt posts. Hey Mom posts will still be numbered sequentially. New Hey Mom posts will use the same format as all the other Hey Mom posts; all other posts will feature this format seen here.
