A Sense of Doubt blog post #1284 - Bottle Full of Charm - Musical Monday for 1808.27

A Sense of Doubt blog post #1284 - Bottle Full of Charm - Musical Monday for 1808.27

On this date (yesterday by day of the week), I arrived in my new home of Woodland, WA feeling a bit like the character in that picture above.

Details here -

That fact just happens to be a fact, but it doesn't really have much to do with this mix even though I tried to make a connection with the photo.

I got the idea for this mix riding in the car with my wife as the first song came up in her shuffle.

This mix is a strange one in some ways. It started with me being uncertain (a sense of doubt) about the lyrics to "Sheela Na Gig" by PJ Harvey.

I was not clear on this "Sheela-na-gig, Sheela-na-gig, You exhibitionist" and this "Put money in your idle hole" specifically.

Also, I knew I wanted to feature "Hurricane" by MS MR because this chorus is awesome!

"Welcome to the inner workings of my mind
So dark and foul I can't disguise
Can't disguise
Nights like this
I become afraid
Of the darkness in my heart
Hurricane"

And so, I began this journey. As usual, You Tube suggests some tunes, and I add others as a result the mix is uneven and changes both pace and tone frequently. Some of the songs may not fit if strict themes were being adhered to, but they're not, so here we go.

Next week, there will be another "bottle" mix.

Check out PJ Harvey's kick ass lyrics.

Lyrics

I've been trying to show you over and over
Look at these, my child-bearing hips
Look at these, my ruby red ruby lips
Look at these my work strong arms and
You've got to see my bottle full of charm
I lay it all at your feet
You turn around and say back to me, "he said"
Sheela-na-gig, Sheela-na-gig
You exhibitionist
Sheela-na-gig, Sheela-na-gig
You exhibitionist
Gonna wash that man right out of my hair
Just like the first time, said he didn't care
Gonna wash that man right out of my hair
Heard it before, no more
Gonna wash that man right out of my hair
Turn the corner, another one there
Gonna wash that man right out of my hair
Heard it before, he said
Sheela-na-gig, Sheela-na-gig
You exhibitionist
Sheela-na-gig, Sheela-na-gig
You exhibitionist
Put money in your idle hole
Put money in your idle hole
Gonna wash that man right out of my hair
Just like the first time, said he didn't care
Gonna wash that man right out of my hair
Heard it before, no more
Gonna take my hips to a man who cares
Turn the corner, another one there
Gonna take my hips to a man who cares
Heard it before, he said
Sheela-na-gig, sheela-na-gig
You exhibitionist
Sheela-na-gig, sheela-na-gig
You exhibitionist
Put money in your idle hole
Put money in your idle hole
He said "wash your breasts, I don't want to be unclean"
He said "please take those dirty pillows away from me"
He said "wash your breasts, I don't want to be unclean"
He said "please take those dirty pillows away from me"
He said "wash your breasts, I don't want to be unclean"
He said "please take those dirty pillows away from me"
He said "wash your breasts, I don't want to be unclean"
He said "please take those dirty pillows away from me"

- Days ago = 1150 days ago

- New note - On 1807.06, I ceased daily transmission of my Hey Mom feature after three years of daily conversations. I plan to continue Hey Mom posts at least twice per week but will continue to post the days since ("Days Ago") count on my blog each day. The blog entry numbering in the title has changed to reflect total Sense of Doubt posts since I began the blog on 0705.04, which include Hey Mom posts, Daily Bowie posts, and Sense of Doubt posts. Hey Mom posts will still be numbered sequentially. New Hey Mom posts will use the same format as all the other Hey Mom posts; all other posts will feature this format seen here.
